A Glimpse of Mt. Everest

We had an unusual flight from Beijing to Kathmandu. Firstly, it was in three legs although we were expecting two. We had a quick stop in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, where we felt a bit strange due to the high altitude.

Secondly, it ended up being in four legs because of some unknown technical issue on the first leg. We flew for about twenty minutes, heard some interesting noises, and were then informed that we were going back to Beijing. We thankfully landed okay, waited on the tarmac for a couple of hours, and then boarded another plane and from there everything was fine.

On the final leg from Lhasa to Kathmandu, we crossed over a huge mountainous area which looked very impressive from our cruising altutude.

Then the pilot informed us that we could see Everest on the right hand side and the whole plane stacked up against the right hand side windows. We got a glimpse and some pictures of the world's highest peak, and spoke with a young man who scaled it earlier this year.
